The day started off normal enough, but when I opened the curtains I noticed it was still dark. That was odd, we’re at the time of year where the sun rises earlier every day, not later. I thought it odd, but continued getting ready for my day.
Then, when I stepped outside to meet my ride, I noticed that the air was different. It looked different. If felt different. It smelled different. It smelled…like rain. Then I felt it. It was subtle at first, fleeting, really. I wasn’t quite sure if it happened or if it was my imagination.
Then it happened a second time…then a third time. Yes, raindrops were hitting my arm. As my ride pulled up and I got in the car, the heavens opened! This was the first time since I have been here that it has rained. Since long before I got here actually.
It was cloudy once…yes, only once…but there has not been any rain. Until today. The drive was a little more tense than usual. People here drive crazy when it’s dry and don’t change their habits when it rains. Fortunately, due to Ramadan, there were not many cars on the road.
Of course it figures, the one day we get rain is also the one day my jacket was left at the office…
