COVID Vaccine

My typical daily routine is pretty straightforward. I wake up, text home for a little while, get ready for work, go to the base, come home, eat dinner, zoom with the family, go to bed.

It’s been a little while since I posted. Between the drive and working ours, I’m gone 13 hours a day. That makes posting often fairly difficult. I usually have time on the weekend (I work 5 days, off 2), but this weekend has also been unusual. I received my COVID Vaccine.

My typical daily routine is pretty straightforward. I wake up, text Stacee for a little while, get ready for work, go to the base, come home, eat dinner, zoom with the family, go to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat. It’s usually the weekends, when I go out and explore. The first two weekends, anyway.

This weekend, not so much. On Thursday, I received my COVID shot. It was the Johnson & Johnson, single dose, viral vector vaccine. The doctor told me I “may experience flu-like symptoms.” May experience…yeah right. It hit me hard, starting Thursday night.

Fever, chills, shivering, cold sweats, feverish dreams, achiness. I was down hard. I went to bed at 8 PM Thursday, and didn’t get up until nearly 6 PM the next day. I woke up many times through the night and during the day, but basically slept on and off for 20 hours.

I still felt some achiness Friday evening, and went to bed (and promptly fell asleep) at 8 PM again. Slept straight through to 4 AM the next morning (4 AM is when I usually get up). I was feeling better by Saturday, but was still a little weak. Probably because I had not eaten since Thursday.

Now it’s Sunday, and not just Sunday, but EASTER Sunday. Happy Easter! He Has Risen!
